Nov. 4th, 2011 06:23 pmSo I have to pack up the books in my office to move to a new building.* As part of this process, I sorted my books by width. Things to note:
1. All the books of the same width are also of the same height.
2. In order widest to narrowest, the books go like this:
Undergrad textbooks for people who may not major in the sciences; Schaum's outlines
Undergrad textbooks for physicists and mathematicians
Graduate textbooks for physicists
Graduate textbooks for mathematicians; science books used more as references for working scientists than textbooks for classes
Math and physics books translated from Russian in the 1950s-1970s
Dover paperback editions of classic physics and math texts
I mean, I didn't mean to sort them by category! That's just how it worked out! Hee.
*They're building a new fancy science facility on the ground where my building currently is--or rather, the ground adjacent to it. Turns out it was cheaper to build us a glorified trailer than it was to shore up our building to ensure we wouldn't fall into the hole. Also, we'll be a little further away from the construction site now.
