Dec. 18th, 2013 09:36 pmI noticed when putting away laundry that I seemed to be missing the bottom sheet of a set I'd washed. Guess where it was: I never took it off the bed at all. I just put the next set of sheets on over it. (In my defense, it's the same color as the mattress pad.)

It's nice to know that ze frank is still on the internet (talking about cuttlefish, in this case--he's made a whole series of very funny animal videos).

So I was going to make this post that said, "Discuss: meta has declined in fandom because, with the increased popularity of fanfic specifically and nerd culture in general, we have plenty of non-fannish spaces to fill that need"--and then I realized that probably no one would discuss it, because of the decline of meta in fandom.
Instead, have ( an incomplete list of unfair reasons I will skip a work of fanfic )

I continue to be deeply impressed by the specificity of the random background characters and settings on Elementary. Compare "random recycling dude talking about the word borborygmus" to any random episode of Law & Order, for example. (Relatedly: Comedian John Mulaney on the subject of Law & Order, plus New York City bartenders.)
