And when I went to write that last post, it pulled up this nearly-complete draft of an Adam Lambert concert review. :D So, enjoy!

I drove to Milwaukee and this time the car didn't die! \o/
SHE IS SO TINY AND PRECIOUS AND FIERY AND AWESOME. <3 With all the stuff about her album & singles not selling well, I got kind of weepy during her set because the crowd was loving it--I think the applause after she brought Orianthi out to jam on "Don't Waste the Pretty" was the loudest non-Adam applause of the night. Although I do think her management needs to realize she's a rock singer and not a pop singer and stop drowning her out with backing vocal tracks, js. I didn't think the set was maybe as...complete?...as Orianthi's, but a lot of that for me was that the backing tracks removed the spontaneity and she didn't have the theatrics to replace it the way Adam does. But anyway. MOSTLY SHE WAS AWESOME. AND SUCH AN AMAZING SINGER. AND I HOPE EVERYONE IN THAT THEATRE WHO DIDN'T KNOW HER WENT OUT AND BOUGHT HER ALBUM AFTERWARDS.
And then Orianthi. She's not a bad singer, but her voice isn't totally suited to her songwriting and instrumental style. Well, possibly--somebody didn't do a very good job with her mic; you couldn't understand her at all when she was speaking. It was really, really bad. Like, I knew she had an Australian accent, but you couldn't pick that out from where I was sitting until maybe the third or fourth time she tried to talk. At one point she wanted to get the audience to scream, which I was eventually able to figure out from her gestures--the only discernable word was "riff." Anyway, my point is, I think she's a good singer but her tone is a little too...pretty?...for all the instrumental work going on, except it was hard to tell if that was a fair judgment at this venue. The band was really good and Orianthi is an excellent guitar player, of course, but I thought most of the songs were pretty lackluster--there was only one I really wanted to hear again (Courage, a track that's apparently not on her album).
Then Adam. :D With a new haircut that looked really good--I know, I know, it's shallow of me, but if I talk about the haircut I don't have to talk about the fringed jacket and the top hat! He sounded great, as always (heh, I've only seen him once before). I actually liked the dancers here; a lot of times I think in the bootleg videos they look a little odd, but when you see it from a fixed point looking at the stage as a whole they make a lot more sense, I think.
And I met a bunch of awesome people! And if I tried to name them all I would forget someone, so I'm not going to, but it was great! So nice to have people to squee with afterwards (or at least absorb their squee, I'm a bit reserved IRL especially when I don't know people well). Also, we got some Allison swag! Which was great. :D
I was there for the Stairmaster (heh) thing, and it was kind of amazing. Although it was also true that his hips seemed to have a trip line connected to half the larynxes in the room, because whenever he twitched them, people screamed. :D :D :D
OMG, his voice though. Like, Soaked was gorgeous live (I don't like it on the album), and same for Aftermath. He slightly messed up the first high note in Music Again, so I noticed he held out the mic for the next one to get the audience to do it, and then with that rest was able to hit the third. But mostly...*happy sigh*. :D YAY ADAM.
