Feb. 9th, 2012 08:44 pmSo, like, years after the heyday of SGA fandom, I finally read Freedom's Just Another World for Nothing Left to Lose. *weeps all over everything*
Actually I've been reading tons of fic lately--job market stress apparently reached a breaking point and manifested itself as a desire to read emotionally resonant fiction, which for me is pretty much always fanfic. (Published romance tends to be a little too swept-away-by-emotions-y for me to handle--some fanfic, at least, sidles up so you don't notice what it's doing. It's like eyedrops, I have to turn my head and drop them in the corners of my eyes, because if I drop straight down I always blink.) Anyway, this is fun! If anyone has recent recs, feel free to post them in comments--I'm even up for stuff in fandoms I don't usually follow, but right now I'm mostly reading HP, SGA, and BBC Sherlock.
ETA: Thinking about it a little more, it's not like most shippy fanfic is less emotionally upfront than the published romance I've read, just that (for the pairings I like) it's romance fics starring the emotionally unaware. Works better for me, I guess.
ETA 2: Not only--or even especially--looking for sad fics, that one was just the one I felt the need to post about. :D
